  • Facebook reported that it’s seeing record high levels of demand for its services, obviously due to the COVID-19 lockdowns that have happened globally.
  • Messaging activity is up 50% across Messenger and WhatsApp, while the use of live video on Messenger is up a whopping 70%.
  • Facebook Live has risen by 50%.
  • Global release of the Messenger desktop app, that is available for both MacOS and Windows.
  • Is releasing new measures to assist businesses who are dealing with the impacts of the pandemic shutdowns.
  • Launched a new set of video features designed to help you build audiences for your video content, and promote return viewership.
  • Added a new ‘Experiments’ section to Ads Manager, that provides a central home for all your Facebook ad tests and results.
  • Is working on a new ‘Auto Status’ option for Messenger, that uses location tracking, as well as other device tools, to indicate what you’re up to.
  • Is adding new sections to its ‘Download Your Data’ (Instagram) and ‘Download Your Information’ (Facebook) tools to provide more transparency over the information it collects on your activities, and how it intends to show you more relevant ads and content

  • Instagram is working on a new option that will enable you to limit your exposure to sensitive content through a new setting. It means that the user can see fewer photos and videos of a sensitive nature.
  • They’re fast-tracking the release out of their co-watching feature, that let’s you share your saved, ‘liked’ and suggested photos and videos with up to six people at the same time using video chat.
  • Instagram are testing yet another Stories addition, an animated selfie sticker tool that overlays graphics and effects related to different emoji characters on top of your image.

  • Announced a new update for its ‘Explore’ tab which will make all of the listed tweets in Explore more location-specific.
  • Is considering changing the name of its ‘Lists’ tab in the app to ‘Channels’, to encourage content discovery and exposure.

  • Twitter has published a listing of key dates and events of note for months ahead, which includes all the major sporting events and industry conferences, along with holidays and seasonal celebrations, in order to help you map out your strategies. And they’ve put together a whole bunch of tips for your messaging in a time of crisis.
